WE ARE OPEN. As the COVID-19 situation continues, we are committed to serving the families and individuals facing hunger in our community.

GET FOOD

*Our Food Bank will be closed on Monday May 24th for the holiday weekend. We will reopen on Tuesday, May 25th with a shift at Unity from 4-7pm*

Are you having trouble putting food on the table? If you are hungry and have a postal code that starts with L5L, L5M or L5N, we can help. You can use our Food Bank services once a month to receive 7 to 10 days of nutritionally balanced food, depending on the supplies available.

The amount of food you will receive is based on your family size. If you are in an extreme emergency situation you may be able to obtain food twice a month for a short period of time.

If you live outside of our service area, but are a resident of Peel Region, please visit Peel Region Food Banks to see which food bank is closest to you. If you live in Halton Region, you can find the list of available food banks here

HOW DOES IT WORK?

*Please note that FACE COVERINGS are now required when entering EFFC. Do not wear gloves, as the use of hand sanitizer will also be required upon entry. Thank you for your cooperation.

Welcome to Eden Food for Change! Our goal is to provide you with access to good food in a dignified, respectful manner.

On your first visit, please let the greeter know that you are new to the food bank. They will arrange for you to meet with one of our advocates who will register you and your household.

The advocate will also be able to connect you to other resources in the Mississauga area that may be of help to you. You may ask to speak with an advocate at any time if you need additional information/support.

WHAT DO I NEED TO REGISTER?

To register for the food bank please come within the first hour of the shift. This makes sure we have enough time to complete the registration process and provide you with all of the information you need.

Please ensure that you bring the following information with you:

  • Identification for everyone in your household including children. This can be a driver’s license, birth certificate, passport, or health card
  • Proof of address – a utility bill, rental agreement or driver’s license with your current address is all you need for this.

The advocate will complete your registration, explain how our food bank works and give you a member card. You will need your member card each time you visit.

Once you have registered, you will be provided with hampers of non-perishable and perishable food based on the size of your household, taking into account any special dietary needs/restrictions that were identified in the registration process.

  • The type of food you receive may vary from month to month based on what is available to the food bank.
If possible, you should arrange to have personal transportation to help you get your food home. Please let the volunteers know if you are walking or travelling by bus. In that case, you will need to bring bags and some way to carry all of your food. A bundle buggy or cart would be a good option.

THINGS TO REMEMBER

IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST VISIT, YOU WILL NEED:

  • Identification for everybody in the household, including children (driver’s licence, birth certificate, passport etc.)
  • Proof of address (driver’s licence, rental agreement, OW or ODSP statement)
  • Empty bags for groceries if you are walking or taking public transit

*Please note that FACE COVERINGS are now required when entering EFFC. Do not wear gloves, as the use of hand sanitizer will also be required upon entry. Thank you for your cooperation.

If you have been to the food bank before, please remember to bring your member card with you.

If someone else has to pick up your food, please be sure that person has both your member card and a letter signed by you.

If at any time you are out of food and have already had your monthly pick-up, please come in and speak to one of our volunteers. They will try to give you an emergency supply, if food is available.
