Volunteer Your Time & Talents!
Volunteers are the backbone of our organization. They are involved in every aspect of our organization, including food distribution, food pickups, sorting, organizing food drives and fundraising. You can volunteer on one of our regular weekly day or evening shifts, be on call for special events, or be on a committee. If you are a student looking to complete your community service hours or participate in our Student Volunteer Night, then please review our Youth/Student page. If you are an adult interested in volunteering with us, please read on to explore the various opportunities to contribute as an individual to Eden Food for Change. If you would like to pursue a volunteer opportunity with us, please contact Janet Watson, our volunteer coordinator, at email@example.com.
Weekly Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers work in various aspects of running Eden Food for Change. Many volunteers assist clients in selecting food, sort and pack food donations, stock shelves, or assist with carrying food in and out of the food bank. Some volunteers register clients for our services, or work with clients to assess need and refer them to additional community services (these positions require a current agency-specific police check). Other volunteers provide a valuable service by picking up food donations from local businesses and delivering them to us. Other volunteers assist with assembling and distributing produce boxes for our fresh produce program. All positions are important for assisting the many people in need who use our services every month.
For people who can commit to helping once a week, we have 8 shift openings at 2 locations to choose from:
Battleford location: Monday (morning and afternoon), and Thursday evening.
Unity location: Tuesday (afternoon and early evening), Thursday morning, and Friday (morning and afternoon).
Please note that there can be a bit of a wait list, depending on the shift or shifts that are possible for you.
Throughout the year, there are several weekend events, such as store fundraising drives, community festivals, and local grocery store food drives. These events require help from adult volunteers to supervise student volunteers, request donations and answer questions. Times and locations vary. If you can only make an occasional weekend commitment, perhaps this is the area that will suit you best.
Eden Food for Change has a few volunteer committees to help the organization. Please let us know if you are interested in any of the following committees:
Board of Directors
If you would like to serve on an annual event committee we have two opportunities. Please note that these committees require a yearly commitment with more meetings closer to the date of the event.
RAH – Riders Against Hunger: This annual motorcycle event happens in August and helps to raise awareness and funds for Eden. The ride is a few hours long and there are prizes for a variety of participant levels.
A Taste of Eden: This annual evening takes place in October and is a fun-filled evening of casino games, dinner, dancing and live band. The event includes a silent auction to raise funds and awareness for Eden.
