FRESH PRODUCE BOX RECIPE: HOISIN CHICKEN & GREEN BEANS--A FAMILY FAVOURITE

A Family Favourite: Hoisin Chicken & Green Beans




Ingredients:

½ Cup Hoisin Sauce (Available in the Oriental section at all Grocery stores)

½ Cup Sherry or Orange Juice (you can also use Grand Marnier)

½ Cup Water

2 Tbs Soy Sauce

4 cloves of Garlic thinly sliced

4 Skinless Boneless Chicken Breasts chopped into 1 inch pieces

1 lb Green Beans trimmed

2 tsp Asian Sesame oil

Directions:

Stir together the hoisin sauce, sherry (or juice), water, soy sauce and garlic in a large pan. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to simmer and add the chicken. Cover and cook stirring once or twice until the chicken is cooked through. Approximately 10 – 12 minutes

Continue cooking the chicken and the sauce until the sauce is reduced a bit and thickened, stir in the sesame oil and remove from heat.

Bring to boil a medium saucepan of water and add the beans. Cook until they are crisp/tender. Approximately 5 minutes. Drain

Mix the chicken and sauce with the green beans and enjoy.

I have also made this as a vegetarian version using 1 or 2 packages of paneer chopped into 1 inch pieces instead of the chicken. It is delicious!
