The Fyfe Foundation chooses Eden Food for Change to receive $100,000

Mississauga, ON – Wednesday, March 8, 2017 – Eden Food for Change gratefully announces that the Fyfe Foundation has contributed $100,000 toward the purchase of a new refrigerated truck for the Mississauga agency.

In late 2016, the Fyfe Foundation, having heard about the work done by Eden Food for Change (EFFC), approached the organization to request a grant proposal.  As Bill Crawford, EFFC’s Executive Director spoke to the family foundation, he informed the potential donors that it was only a few weeks prior that their much-used truck had broken down and a replacement was the most needed item. He was encouraged to make the request and the foundation’s board would review the proposal.

After reviewing the submissions, the foundation chose EFFC to be the recipient of a $100,000 donation, their largest grant for 2017.

“Through hard work, caring and tenacity Eden Food for Change has created a multifaceted approach to addressing the many aspects of hunger in our community. An approach that the Fyfe Foundation is honoured to help in some small way,” says Ryan Hyland, Fyfe Foundation President. “It was their dedication and reverence for the people and communities that they support that made Eden Food for Change stand out.”

“When we heard that we received this significant grant we were both overwhelmed and incredibly relieved,” remarks Bill Crawford. “A truck of this size is incredibly expensive and this leaves us with only $15,000 more to raise – an amount that seems much more achievable thanks to this grant from the Fyfe Foundation.”

EFFC will be asking for donations from Mississauga residents and businesses to help them meet their final target of $115,000 to purchase their new vehicle. If you would like to contribute please contact Eden Food for Change at 905-785-3651 ext.223 or email info@edenffc.org. Alternatively, donations can be made online at  Let’s Get Moving!
