Are you having trouble putting food on the table? If you are hungry and have a postal code that starts with L5L, L5M or L5N, we can help. You can use our Food Bank services once a month to receive 7 to 10 days of nutritionally balanced food, depending on the supplies available.

The amount of food you will receive is based on your family size. If you are in an extreme emergency situation you may be able to obtain food twice a month for a short period of time.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Eden Food for Change is focused on providing access to good food and will always treat you with the dignity and respect you deserve. Our volunteers are passionate about ensuring the experience is pleasant for you.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

The first time you come to use the food bank at Eden, we ask that you please come during the first half hour of opening hours.

You will sign-in at the front desk when you first arrive. After, you will meet with one of our advocates who will register you as a food bank user after assessing your situation.

ADVOCACY/SUPPORT

When you come to the Food Bank at Eden as you register you will meet with one of our advocates. Our advocates are trained to know of local resources that can help people living in poverty. Please note that you can ask to speak to an advocate if you need some information at any time.

TO REGISTER, YOU WILL NEED:

  • Identification for everybody in the household, including children (driver’s licence, birth certificate, passport etc.)
  • Proof of address (driver’s licence, rental agreement, OW or ODSP statement)
  • Empty bags for groceries

***Please understand that during your first visit and further renewal visits we will be discussing your financial situation. For this reason it is helpful for you to have knowledge of, or have with you, family and individual income information as well as expense information (for example, OW/ODSP income, employment income, monthly rental amounts etc.)

Our advocate will record your information and register you. Please note that every time you come to the Food Bank you will need to bring your registration card with you. You will then be taken back to our lobby, where a volunteer will call out your name. The volunteer will then take you through our marketplace. Our food is sectioned into similar items, and based on your family size and available supplies you will be able to select a certain number of items per area. You are allowed to choose from available items to select your own family’s preferences.

If you have been to the food bank before, please remember to bring your food bank registration card with you.

If someone else has to pick up your food, please be sure that person has both your registration card and a letter signed by you.

If at any time you are out of food and have already had your monthly pick-up, please come in and speak to one of our coordinators. They will try to give you an emergency supply, if food is available.

The Food Bank is located in the basement of Eden United Church. It is located on the northwest corner of Winston Churchill Blvd and Battleford Road.

Meadowvale Town Centre is directly across the street. There are many Mississauga Transit Buses that stop at Meadowvale Town Centre – # 9, 10, 13, 27 38, 39, 42, 44, 45, 48 & 89
