Board


Eden Food for Change’s Board of Directors is made up of volunteers from a cross section of professions and life experiences within the community. Each Board member is concerned about hunger and poverty and passionate about the work of EFFC to respond to the needs of hungry families. Board members leverage their skills, experience and network to advance the cause. The Board is responsible for the organization overall and ensures that the organization is accomplishing its goals and objectives based on the vision and mission. The Board of Directors meet monthly.

Althea Gordon

Althea Gordon joined the Board of Directors in May 2016 and is a Human Resources professional with experience providing strategic HR services in various roles in multidisciplinary environments, including corporate, government, and educational sectors.  She is presently a Human Resources Manager at Humber College.  She also helps the next generation of HR professionals hone their skills through a part-time faculty position at York University in the School of Human Resource Management.    Her volunteer work has included years volunteering as a Member CNE Association/Events Committee, Chair of the Dolphin Senior School Council within Peel District School Board and immediate past Chair – Board of Directors Skills for Change.

Trivea Isaacs

Trivéa Isaacs joined the Board of Directors in September 2012 and serves on the Nominating Committee. She has worked in the commercial banking industry for 20 years, first for CIBC and then with Business Development Bank of Canada as a Business Development Manager and Branch Manager. Trivéa is involved in a number of community outreach projects. Trivéa lives in Meadowvale with her husband and 2 children.

Michelle Martin

Michelle Martin joined the Board of Directors in May 2011 and presently serves as Past-President and on the Human Resources and Nominating Committees. She chaired ‘An Evening in Monte Carlo’ in 2012.  Michelle has a background in Administration/Customer Service with the City of Mississauga for over 15 years. Previous employment experience includes Personal banking and Training and Development with the Bank of Nova Scotia.

Andrew Mitchell

Andrew Mitchell joined the Board in 2014 and serves on the Human Resources and Marketing Committees. Professionally, Andrew has built and managed some of Canada’s largest consumer loyalty programs like the AIR MILES Reward Program and RBC Rewards.  His volunteer work has included years as a Scout Leader and also as a member of the Corporate Marketing Board for Sick Kids Foundation. Andrew resides in Meadowvale with his family and in his spare time enjoys golf, travel and cooking.

Pravir Patel

Dr. Pravir Patel joined the Board of Directors in May 2014 and serves on the Marketing Committee. He graduated in 1995 from the University of Toronto Dental School. He has been in private practice in Brampton then Mississauga for the last 11 years and in Brampton for 8 years before that. Pravir enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and maintains a rigorous Continuing Education program for himself and his Dream Team. In his spare time, he can be found playing with his young daughter and son or pursuing various activities – cycling, piano, and sailing.

Harry Pedwell

Harry Pedwell joined the Board of Directors in May, 2016 and has maintained a dual financial services and military career throughout his working life.  In the financial services field, he has worked at several major Banks and has extensive experience in Securities Trading and Risk Management.  In the military, he is currently the Commanding Officer of the 48th Highlanders of Canada, a reserve infantry regiment in Toronto, and has extensive experience in Leadership, Communications, Strategic/Operational Planning and Individual/Collective Training.  Harry is a recipient of the Canadian Forces Decoration, the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.  He resides in Mississauga with his wife (Sadie) and two children (Emma and James).  In his spare time, Harry enjoys camping, hiking, politics and being involved with local community organizations.

Celia Rutherford - Secretary

Celia joined the Board of Directors in May, 2015 and was immediately nominated to serve as secretary.  She has been involved with Eden since 2009 in various capacities and for the past 5 years she has volunteered in the role of advocacy.  Last year Celia spent 6 months skillfully working with the staff in the front office. Her background as an executive assistant and professional Legal Assistant and her passion to help our hunger community is a good fit as a director and as a committee member for A Taste of Eden.

Gail Ryan - Treasurer

Gail Ryan joined the Board of Directors in May, 2016 and is a Certified Management Accountant and currently holds a Vice President position with Aimia where she is has overall responsibility for the management and growth of the Enhancement Services line of business.    She has spent most of her career building and managing various businesses specifically related to direct response marketing.  Gail lives in the Meadowvale area with her family and spends her spare time golfing, gardening and cooking.

Ron Saito - President

Ron Saito joined the Board of Directors in 2004. He completed 6 years as President in 2013.  He rejoined the Board in 2014 and was nominated as President in 2015. Ron had a 30-year career in technology companies including IBM, Nortel and independent consulting and has served on several community organizations and industry boards. Ron is married to Pat and has three adult children and two grandchildren. Hobbies include roller coasters, beer and cooking. Ron received the Queen Elizabeth Silver Jubilee medal for his volunteer work.

Tim Scott

Tim Scott joined the Board of Directors in June 2012 and presently serves as Treasurer. Tim is a Chartered Accountant and Certified Internal Auditor and is currently a partner with Deloitte in the Enterprise Risk Services practice. He has worked as a financial statement auditor, a Chief Audit Executive, an enterprise risk management consultant and a Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining Deloitte, Tim held the position of Senior Vice President, Asset Protection with Loblaw Companies Limited and previously spent four years with Maple Leaf Foods as VP, Internal Audit and VP of Finance of the global business unit.

Bob Sjolin - Vice President

Bob Sjolin joined the Board of Directors in June 2012.  He was nominated as Vice-President in 2015 and also serves on the Finance and Human Resources Committees.  Bob is a CMA and the CFO of Mandrake Management Consultants Corporation.  Prior to Mandrake he held CFO positions with Spherion, and Bradson International.  He currently serves as Treasurer for Skate for Kids and has previous Board experience with the National Capital Region’s Society of Management Accountants and Big Brothers.
